BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps in the BMW 7 Series.
Communication, information and entertainment – BMW ConnectedDrive Services & Apps give you a whole new experience of mobility. For example, you can set the air conditioning in your BMW 7 Series in advance via your smartphone, or use Concierge Service as your personal travel guide while on the road.
CONNECTED DRIVE SERVICES.
The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services forms the basis for BMW ConnectedDrive functions, which provide the driver with a wide range of information, entertainment and service features while on the road.
The package includes access to current location-based information such as weather and news for example, as well as an online search powered by GoogleTM and practical office functions. Services and features such as webcams, stock information, parking information, as well as travel and hotel guides can be accessed directly in the car without a smartphone via the ConnectedDrive menu.
Convenient, secure and unlimited access to selected smartphone apps is also integrated. ConnectedDrive Services also provides access to the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, in which services and apps can be ordered and extended anytime and anywhere to suit the user's individual requirements. The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services offers all this and more, making every trip in a BMW a real experience.

The Apps equipment feature is a platform enabling convenient use of selected smartphone apps in BMW vehicles. To make a variety of apps available for their customers, BMW not only develops its own apps, such as BMW ConnectedDrive App and the BMW M laptimer, but also works closely with partners like Spotify, Napster, GoPro, Deezer and Audible so that those apps can also be used safely inside the car.
Simply attach a compatible smartphone to the vehicle via the Snap-in adapter or a smartphone USB cable, or wirelessly. All of the app's functions can then be conveniently operated via the iDrive Controller. The selection of apps available for use in the car is constantly expanding thanks to close partnerships between BMW and a variety of different suppliers.

BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal
In the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal, personal information and vehicle settings can be managed that are necessary or useful when using BMW ConnectedDrive functions in the car, in various apps or the BMW ConnectedDrive call centre. Services and apps suitable for specific vehicles can be purchased to meet individual needs from the integrated BMW ConnectedDrive Store. The customer can obtain useful information about the current status of his or her BMW in the separate function area, e.g. about mileage, remaining range, status of the doors, tailgate and windows, necessary maintenance and Check Control messages. Additionally, the current vehicle location, weather at that location and technical vehicle data are shown. Remote Services can be activated and executed from the control section. The vehicle can be pre-heated or cooled for a particular departure time, unlocked or locked, the horn activated or the lights flashed. The current vehicle location is displayed on a map along with the current traffic situation. Points of interest can be searched for and sent to the vehicle. The interface design of the function area is based on the Control Display of the vehicle as well as the BMW ConnectedDrive Apps, and is also optimised for use on smartphones or tablets.
BMW CONNECTED DRIVE STORE.
Services and apps to suit every need can be purchased individually from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store. These services can be flexibly selected and ordered at any time after the purchase of the BMW. This allows customers to choose from all the available BMW ConnectedDrive services and apps directly from the car at all times based on their needs.
The services and apps that can be ordered in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store have been specially developed to suit the needs and demands of BMW drivers. The duration of individual services can also be selected. This allows customers to order services for a specified period of time, for example during their holiday.
The BMW ConnectedDrive Store can be accessed on the go from inside the vehicle, or via the My BMW ConnectedDrive online customer portal. The newly ordered services and apps are then accessible in the car shortly after being chosen and purchased. The BMW ConnectedDrive Store offers the opportunity to access up-to-date information on the selection of available services and apps at all times.
For anyone who has ever wanted to know what it is like to have their own personal butler, here is the chance: with the Concierge Service from BMW ConnectedDrive. At the push of a button the driver is connected with a BMW Call Centre agent who acts as their ""personal assistant"" on the road.
Whether a particular restaurant, the nearest cash dispenser or an emergency pharmacy – the BMW Call Centre agent is there to help and can even send information directly to the navigation system. The Concierge Service operates independently of the driver's mobile phone and is available in their home country and abroad, around-the-clock, seven days a week and at no extra cost.
REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION.
Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details about the location and duration of delays are transmitted in order to keep the driver informed, practically in real time, about the current traffic situation on motorways, country roads and on many routes within the city. Intelligent alternative route suggestions help the driver reach their destination as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The data are drawn from such sources as anonymous movement profiles from the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports, and also takes into account established traffic patterns such as peak commute times.
The traffic information is clearly presented, with the roads depicted in green, yellow, orange and red.
INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL.
The Intelligent emergency call guarantees fast, targeted assistance round-the-clock as well as support from trained staff – in the driver's native language, even when they're abroad. If an accident takes place involving the activation of an airbag or the belt tensioners (for example), the system automatically issues an emergency call. Relevant details such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW call centre via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independent of a private mobile phone. The BMW call centre will inform the nearest rescue coordination centre and provide assistance over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually, in case other road users require help.
REMOTE SERVICES AND BMW CONNECTED DRIVE APP.
With Remote Services and the free BMW ConnectedDrive app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), various vehicle-related functions, such as locking and unlocking the car, can be operated remotely. It is also possible to directly transmit destination addresses found using the Google™ search engine to a navigation system if one is available.
Just as the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal, the app also offers the opportunity to access vehicle information such as range or the status of the windows and doors. That way the driver is always fully informed about the status of the vehicle, even from a distance, and also has all information conveniently gathered together at one glance.
This information package is rounded out with the current location of the vehicle. To use this feature, customers simply need to activate Remote Services once in the BMW ConnectedDrive customer portal at www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.

Online Entertainment offers direct and unlimited access to millions of music titles inside the BMW – all without going via a smartphone or other device. There are plenty of tracks here to suit every taste. As soon as an artist's song or album is played in the car, it is automatically downloaded to the car's hard disk. For guaranteed listening enjoyment without any interruptions.
With the Online Entertainment package, a flat-rate account lasting one year can be opened with any BMW music partner, for example with Napster, which can be used in six different European countries at no additional cost: Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands. This option enables a WiFi hotspot using the LTE standard to be set up in the vehicle, in conjunction with a chargeable data tariff. Passengers can then go online with all suitable devices, work on emails, stream music and videos, and much more. The hotspot ensures that there are no obstacles to enjoying a fascinating mobile internet experience with the maximum LTE standard while on the move.
This function is compatible with a huge array of devices, such as BMW Touch Command, laptops, tablets and mobile phones from various manufacturers. Up to eight devices can be connected to the WiFi hotspot at any one time.
Connection is via the SIM card fitted in the vehicle and a chargeable tariff running from the BMW provider, or the data tariff used on the coupled mobile device. If no LTE network is available, the system automatically switches to other available standards. Since the service is connected to the external aerial, there is absolutely no exposure to radiation in the interior of the car.
